          Opportunity Description:
          About the Programme
The Salvation Army's PSS-KIP (Prison Support Services - Kids in Play) is an outreach programme that reaches out to inmates and their families. It also seeks to support amendable ex-offenders in facilitating the reintegration into the community and their families through aftercare programmes.

PSS offers practical help, befriending to children and provides intensive support to primary caregivers/remaining parent to manage their financial, emotional and related challenges and situations. These include, but is not limited to:

          • counseling sessions to build on the relationship and support for each other within the family,
          • topical support groups for children e.g. bullying, separation & anxiety, crime, stigma etc, to inculcate values  to help them cope more effectively and foster a stronger bond with their incarcerated parent/s.
          • meaningful activities e.g family outings, family camps etc
The Childrens' Session is held on Saturdays, 2-4pm. Each session will see about 100-120 children (5-12 years old) participating.

          About the Role

Volunteers are needed to facilitate games and activities, conduct song & dance and/or arts & crafts lessons as well as aid in small-group facilitation of various thematic activities for the children.

You would be glad to know that you would have played an important part in changing lives; partnering our staff to support the children and the spouse during this difficult period. This will ultimately help in building the relationship of the family and with the reintegration of amendable ex-offenders into the community.
